If you’ve worn contact lenses at all, then you’re likely all-too-familiar with the fact that they can get uncomfortable at times. From drying out to trapping dirt or other debris underneath them, wearing contact lenses can be difficult at times.
That’s why is always important to make sure your lenses are properly cleaned, and one of the best ways to do that is to use a hydrogen peroxide cleaning solution.
What is it?
A hydrogen peroxide solution is different than most contact lens solutions. Most solutions are sold as “multi-purpose,” meaning they clean and disinfect lenses. However, they also contain other chemicals and preservatives that can cause eye irritation.
Hydrogen peroxide solutions are usually 3% hydrogen peroxide and then saline.
How does it work?
Hydrogen peroxide cleans and removes all dirt and grime from your lenses, and once it’s done cleaning leaves behind no additional preservatives. Your lenses are left in a perfectly neutral solution.
You do have to wait 4-6 hours for the peroxide to clean and become a neutral solution, otherwise, you’ll end up with peroxide in your eyes. That’s never a good feeling. If you have any questions about this type of treatment or want more information, call us today at 636-614-3911.
